Final Round-Up: Where Next? Future implications for policy, research and practice

Session Content

It is hoped that this Virtual International Conference will stimulate a wealth of ideas, including good and interesting policies and practices for career learning, digital transformation and equality, inclusion and diversity in a fast changing education and careers landscape. What key lessons can be learned? How can conversation be converted into action and become a force for good? Why are we still grappling with issues such as parity of esteem between academic and vocational routes? What might change in the education and careers landscape in the coming year(s)? How well equipped are careers services and career development professionals to meet the challenges of high unemployment, alongside advising a generation of young people who face uncertain futures. What does an educator and career development have to offer when there are few or no jobs in certain geographical areas? How can robust education and career theories inform evidence-based practice and policies?

Chaired by Chris Percy, panel members will share their unique perspectives on the summary of main findings from the Conference. Dr Deirdre Hughes will close the conference and set out a CareerChat agenda and community of interest that looks beyond lockdown and moves forward.
