EVALUATION OF LONDON’S CAREERS PROGRAMME

In June 2024 Greater London Authority (GLA) commissioned dmh associates to conduct a a mixed methods evaluation of the London Careers Programme. The evaluation was led by Dr Deirdre Hughes OBE commencing in early July 2024 to the end of November 2024. The outcomes will be used to inform achievements of the current programme against its objectives, KPIs/outputs, and to identify good practice and issues for consideration when planning the future strategic direction. dmh associates will also investigate the returns on investment (RoI) and wider impact assessment evidence-base.
Focus
To review London’s Careers Programme, in particular the ongoing Careers Hubs and now-finished ESF-funded Careers Clusters, and to determine whether the original objectives have been met. The evaluation activities also aimed to provide more insight into the provision of careers education and guidance in schools and colleges for those in compulsory education in London.
Methods
A rapid evidence search (RES) to identify relevant papers to feed into the research. Followed by surveys, interviews and focus group sessions with key stakeholders to gather qualitative data, and a Call for Evidence aimed at interested parties such as sector and professional bodies, trade unions, community organisations etc. A quantitative assessment of impact and ROI was led by Dr Chris Percy, Senior Associate.
