CAREERS GUIDANCE AND ACCESS FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROVIDERS

CAREERS GUIDANCE AND ACCESS FOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROVIDERS
October 16, 2018 dmh

Today the DfE published updated versions of the statutory guidance for schools on careers guidance and access for education and training providers and guidance for further education colleges and sixth form colleges on careers guidance.

The updates include:

  • More information on new requirements/expectations that were introduced in September 2018:
    • for schools and colleges to publish information about their careers programme on their website.
    • for schools and colleges to name their Careers Leader and publish their contact details on their website.
  • More information about the roles and responsibilities of the Careers Leaders and signposting to new resources/support.
  • Details about The Career & Enterprise Company’s new SEND Gatsby Benchmark Toolkit.
  • Information about the new Compass (self-evaluation tool) for colleges.
  • More information about destination measures, including a link to the new destination measures good practice guidance.

The Department has also published a new guidance note, Destinations data good practice guide – this explains what destination data is, what destination measures are and how they can be used to improve careers provision and outcomes for young people.

I’m in the process of comparing these to earlier DfE reports – keen to hear your own observations. Email: [email protected]
